Location: Just off the coast of St. Mary's, GA near the Florida-Georgia border.
Description: Cumberland Island is Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. This island contains numerous historical buildings along with miles of empty beach. One of the highlights for most people is getting to see the wild horses that roam the island.
Personal Notes: We traveled to the island on two separate days. The first day we explored the southern area with the ruins of the Dungeness and hiked up the beach. On the second day we rented bikes and rode up to the Plum Orchard mansion and I continued on to the very northern end of the island and the First African Baptist Church.
